Today was the second time I got to meet up with the "Kindred Spirits" poetry group over at Tiffany's Restaurant in Palm Harbor. The restaurant was packed today and all 7 poets sat around a table for 6. An American constitution-loving barber shop quartet was singing in the meeting room so we were out in the main (loud) dining area. This is a really fun and talkative group of mostly women...the one man there today said he felt like he was on "The View".
Our homework assignment to bring was to write a poem in any style, but to use only questions. This is what I came up with for the homework:
Have You Heard?
Have you heard your muse today?
Does she have wings?
Does she dance and sing?
What dream did she whisper?
Did your muse come out to play?
Then while some of us munched on salads and sandwiches, we workshopped: a poem in any length or style, as long as it contains a list of some kind:
Wishes
If you could have one wish
what would it be?
I don't think just one
is quite enough for me.
So I'd wish for
infinite wishes,
dreams come true,
love, laughter,
and world peace too.
Beautiful sunsets,
and skies of blue
and I'd also wish
for endless wishes for you.
I don't know if all these wishes
could really co-exist.
But who wants to be practical
when you're writing a wish list?
I'm really enjoying the homework and workshops, and I'm looking forward to the next meet up. For any Tampa Bay area poets reading this, sign up at Kindred Spirits and join us the next time we meet.

Hi Naquility. It really has been nice to find this group. How small is your town exactly? Do you think its possible for you start your own group? Meetup.com could be a tool to use to start one up...maybe even a once a month meet up would be nice.
