Sunday Sonnet: Love Letters

Happy Valentine's Day everyone, I wish you all a day full of love. This is a sonnet I wrote for my husband a while back, and the poetic reply he wrote to me. Enjoy.

To My Love

Your smile a beacon on the darkest night.
Your laughter questions all the gloom and doom.
Allegiant lover loyal as a knight,
A valiant guide across the rocky flume.
Excursions undertaken by your side,

My comfortable companion in this life.
The one to whom all things I can confide,
I honor you; your faithful loving wife.
Forgive my imperfections as they fade,

Your grace remains my greatest hope for change.

Delusion cut away, our love the blade.

Logistically, the days we will arrange.

Efflorescence commences with our faiths,

to chase away the gremlins and the wraiths.

Love, April

My Love's Response

Would you go back in time and change anything
Not knowing what the future will be?
Could you live with yourself, that for fame and wealth
The thing you changed stopped you from meeting me?

I know that you're not perfect,

but I know that you are true.
I know that you will make mistakes

and I know that we'll grow from them too.
I know that I am with you,

and I'm the one that won.
So I forgive you for all the mistakes you made,
If you forgive the ones I've done.

Love, James
